Classes for Spring 2012

Most of our regular classes are held through Hanover, Henrico, and King William County Park and Recreation Departments and through the University of Richmond. Please contact the them directly through the provided links to register for these classes. Please contact us if you need more information or want to schedule classes or parties. Anybody can sign up for any classes anywhere. You do not have to be a resident of the county, or attend the University of Richmond to sign up for classes!

Classes for ages 16 & Up
February 28 - Finger foods for grown ups, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM: Who says only kids can have fun? Make your finger foods and eat it, too! We will make some vegetarian fun foods such as open faced calzone, steamed dumplings, and dark chocolate fondue for dessert!

March 22 - Ideas for a do-it-yourself dinner party, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM: We will have ingredients such as Panini rolls, noodles, rice, tortillas, tofu and vegetables-create your own recipes or use some of ours-it's up to you!

April 26 - Noodles galore, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM: Let's make vegetarian dishes of noodles from around the world! Udon noodle soup for appetizer, Lo Mein noodles with vegetables as a main course, and angel hair pasta with cardamom for dessert.

Cooking Classes for Adults aged 16 and Up, at Laburnum Rec Center
February 16 - Chinese delights, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM: Imagine a platter of spring rolls, Lo Mein noodles, and Chinese vegetables with tofu. Now imagine these dishes made by you!

March 15 - Mediterranean cuisine 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM: Let's make vegetarian Mediterranean dishes such as Falafel, hummus, and Tabbouleh which serve as appetizers and meals.

April 17 - South Indian cuisine, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM: Have you ever tried delicious Dosa, Idli and Uttappam? All three are made from rice and lentils but each has unique texture and flavor. We will make all the accompanying dishes like Sambhar and Chutney as well.


Cooking Classes for Adults aged 16 and Up, at Deep Run Rec Center
February 6 - Indian cuisine, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM: Impress your family and friends by learning how to use spices and techniques to make popular vegetarian dishes from India. You will have hands-on cooking experience by making Samosa (savory triangular pastry with potato and peas) for appetizer, Sag Paneer (spinach and cheese), and Dal Makhani (lentils) along with Basmati rice and Paratha (flat bread).

March 5 - Mediterranean cuisine 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM: Bring some variety by cooking up Mediterranean cuisine such as Baba Ghanoush and vegetarian Paella, with date and nut rolls for dessert.

April 16 - Bombay street foods! From 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM: Street food vendors always make our mouth water! Here is your chance to make favorite street foods in Bombay: Pav-Bhaji, Ragda Pattis (potato patties with curried dried peas), and Chat-Papri!

May 7 - Pool party! From 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM: Hot days are coming up! You don't want to stand near the hot stove; you want to be by the pool with friends and family! Learn some cool recipes such as hummus wraps, Gazpacho, pesto pasta; and fruit salsa for dessert!
